What defines a Dance Music Legend? Over 100 productions, six albums, on labels including Defected, CR2, Soma, Cajual, and his own Farriswheel Recordings? Djing in over 30 countries, playing in all the hottest clubs all over the world for over a decade, from Ibiza's "Space", Cielo New York, or Residenting at North America's longest running dance night; Chicago's "Boom Boom Room”? Gene Farris is considered all over the world by dance music fans, producers, and Djs as a Dance Music legend.

For the better half of two decades, Gene Farris has captivated crowds from all around the world with his dj sets and productions, whether at Amsterdam's "Extrema Festival" or at Chicago's Legendary "Red Dog", his DJ style includes Sexy sultry, melodic blends with hot party beats makes him a club favorite around the world. Pushed by local kids in his South Side neighborhood of Chicago Gene Farris caught the DJ bug at the tender age of twelve. Inspired by the likes of Larry Heard, Ron Hardy, Lil Louis, Derrick May, Prince, and Roy Ayers Farris began blending a mixture of Chicago Deeps House music, funk, disco, and soul combined with eighties' pop icons such as, Duran Duran. One may still hear hints of disco in his production style, In his first productions on Cajual and Relief Records like is debut 1994 smash club killer "Summer Affair", the 1998 Farriswheel Recordings Debut release "The Copa Cabana" over 25,000 sold world wide, 2000 release "The Spirit" Remixed by DJ Sneak, or with his classic hits like "Sanctifed Love" released on Defected Records in 2001,"Welcome to Chicago" 2002 Defected Records, "Black Satin" released on Soma Recordings in 2003, or "The Big Doobie" released 2005. Gene Farris's productions continue to inspire and grow stronger through the years, his 2009 releases "Do You Believe in Love" and "Take Me Back" were both in the top 20 digital downloads for dance music in 2009. Gene Farris's Dj style currently reflects Chicago’s "Boompty" sound, in a similar vein to Derrick Carter & Mark Farina.

In 1998, Gene started his own record label - Farriswheel Recordings, which has continued to be one of the leaders in underground house music. The Farriswheel Family has put out remixes and full productions from some of the worlds most prolific and respected dance music producers for over a decade, such as J.T. Donaldson, Chuck Love, 1200 Warriors, Stacey Pullen, Glenn Underground, Greenskeepers, Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, Boo Williams, Dj Sneak, Brett Johnson, Miguel Migs and Jay-J.
