GAMBLIN’ DAN & THE LOSING HAND

A collection of mutual friends from several walks of life, Gamblin’ Dan and the Losing Hand was born in a basement in Southwest Minneapolis. Unlike your typical basement band, this group came together as a result of several post bar jam sessions that were often loosely remembered. These sessions evolved into original compositions, recorded material, and the desire to expand our audience to the outside world. Several practices and an angry neighbor or two later, and the band is finally ready to bring their talents to the public.

A wide range in musical tastes exists among the band’s 5 and a half members, but that allows for a blend in styles as opposed to a clash of sounds that you’d normally expect. As a result, you can see influences ranging from the Black Keys to Drive by Truckers and even Cee Lo Green.

A new element is only seen in the band’s live performances, starting with Gamblin’ Dan himself, who plays harmonica, cowbell, and trumpet, but will be remembered the most for his experimental dance moves. Trevor has been playing music since rock-nroll was new and his vampire sharp lyrics could suck the blood out of a skeleton. Caleb’s lead guitar riffs could melt the face off an Alligator, and Adam is not only a slick left handed bass player, but is also an active member in the Minneapolis nudist community. Chris can beat the skins like the best of them while providing his own unique approach which adds texture to every song.

Our aim with this band has nothing to do with fame, fortune, groupies or any other cliché reason you can think of involving the rockstar lifestyle. Instead, we are all about the energy we bring to each song. We want to look down from the stage and see the crowd having half as much fun as we are from song to song.
