Duck Duck Punch

Fueled by vintage synthesizers & drum machines, Duck Duck Punch brings the analog spirit into the modern electronic genre. Influenced by pioneering synth acts and contemporary interpretations—Duck Duck Punch falls somewhere amongst the likes of Depeche Mode, Gary Numan, Ladytron, Goldfrapp, and Fischerspooner. The duo, Bryan Rudell & Trent Waterman, met as design students at the University of Minnesota, Duluth. Formed in the summer of 2009, Duck Duck Punch broke the traditional genre barrier of the Minnesotan Iron Range—home to Bob Dylan, Trampled by Turtles, and Charlier Parr; folk capital, USA.

With a handful of songs in their arsenal, Duck Duck Punch gained a small amount of momentum—most notably opening for long-time friends & synthpop idols Freezepop. They inhabited Minneapolis a year later where they would lay the foundation for their album. The slow process of recording Human Chemistry progressed with an exploration of collisions between the collective consciousness and the individual psyche. As Human Chemistry took shape, it became a cynical document of the human condition—carried by themes of trauma, desire, disease, and escapism. Duck Duck Punch added a little grit to the classic, dance-driven synthpop formula. Duck Duck Punch is excited to share their first full-length release with their Minneapolis CD release show at famed 7th Street Entry. With Breakfast Anytime & The Trends, it should prove to be one hell of a dance party.
