DKO

Known also as core members of improvising supergroup Coloring Time, as well as comprising the powerhouse rhythm section of funkified techno outfit James Patrick Plays, Jon Davis (bass & reeds), John Keston (keyboards & electronics) and Graham O'Brien (drums) are DKO. 

Having distinguished themselves with epic multimedia performances at Northern Spark Festival (Battle of Everyouth @ Minneapolis Institute of Art in 2011, Teleportation Platform X @ Union Depot in 2013) and Weisman Art Museum's WAM@20, the trio generates intricate, groove-driven compositions from scratch (often for hours at a time) with little or no discussion or planning (or breaks!).

Each member of DKO has assimilated a variety of musical styles on their respective instruments, performing over the years with many well-known artists in the Twin Cities and elsewhere. Working together in the open water of spontaneous composition, however, these three are at their best. Whether plotting new courses over seas well-travelled, or plunging headlong into uncharted waters, DKO never forget to bring the deeply evolved grooves and sublime modalism that is their signature. 

Absinthe Referent, DKO's first official release, is available as a cassette (limited edition of 100) and digital download on May 19. Mixed by Adam Krinsky and mastered by Huntley Miller, the album features six musical rabbit holes for listeners to explore. However, let the buyer beware.
