Kim Anh is a Los Angeles-based DJ, producer and composer. Siting influences such as classic house, garage and minimal wave, Kim Anh broke through as an international DJ in 2006 playing major nightclubs in Paris, London and Berlin. Kim Anh is a founder and 5 year resident DJ for the critically acclaimed nightclub event Booby Trap! (LA/NYC) and is also a member Saint Le Roq.
Saint Le Roq’s first single “Other I” debuted on NPR’s Los Angeles flagship station KCRW 89.9. “Other I” and the b-side release brought back the deep and classic house sound that has become a signature of Kim Anh’s musical sensibility. With remixes and productions released throughout 2012 and 2013, Kim Anh reached a new global audience. In 2012, Kim Anh produced a remix for Grammy-nominated artist Sam Sparro. Shortly after its debut, “Happiness”, reached Platinum sales, hitting #1 on the European Pop & Dance Charts. Kim Anh is currently recording her highly anticipated forthcoming solo EP.
Kim Anh’s transition into the producer role came as a natural progression throughout the years. As a young teenager Kim Anh developed a love for dance music after chasing the underground dance parties of the mid and late 90s. She began collecting vinyl and quickly began to DJ. Throughout the early 2000’s Kim Anh experimented with digital sampling and beat programming, performing live solo shows and dj’ing blends of experimental dance, downtempo, acid jazz, jungle, house and breaks.
In recent years Kim Anh has shared her time equally as a DJ and producer. Today Kim Anh can be found dj’ing around the world and sharing the bill with the likes of LCD Soundsystem, Sam Sparro, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Hercules & Love Affair. She has been the official DJ for YSL Runway, Flaunt Magazine, LA County Museum of Art and NBC’s The Voice. Her love of dance music eventually led her to compose music for film and television. Kim Anh’s disco and house-infused party Booby Trap! has been recognized annually by LA Weekly as a Top Pick, with Flaunt Magazine attributing the nightclub’s success to its “churning dance floor.” Since inception, the party has produced events for the likes of Project Runway, Flaunt Magazine and Outfest Film Festival, Standard Hotels and Ace Hotel. Booby Trap! continues to be a staple of LA & NYC nightlife.
