Desperate Acts

Normally, when you have former members of world-touring bands starting a new project, it’s an easy “members of” reference that gives one an idea of what to expect right off the bat. Yet, Desperate Acts doesn’t sound like anything from their collective past. At their core, Desperate Acts are a gravelly Minneapolis punk band, but they are not a predictable one. Their debut album State Secrets has been compared to Hot Water Music, Avail, Quicksand, Hüsker Dü, the Replacements, Dillinger Four, Jawbreaker, the Weakerthans, Leatherface, and (apparently) Gin Blossoms. That gives the listener a very inexact list of what to expect, but at the end of the day, it’s a band of four friends that will loudly help you forget about the drudgery and panic of everyday life.
