Dare Force is a legendary hard rock/heavy metal band that was initially formed in Minneapolis in the late 1970s. Dare Force released three albums in the 1980s, and performed in concert with numerous national acts such as KISS, Ted Nugent, Triumph, Kansas, UFO, the Joe Perry Project, and Ratt, as well as headlining in venues throughout the US, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela. Dare Force also had several songs that received heavy airplay on rock radio stations throughout the midwestern US in the 1980s.
Dare Force released its third CD, Firepower, with a reformed version of the band in 1989. The original lineup performed occasional reunion gigs after the original version of the band ended in 1987, but stopped performing live after their last reunion show in 2002. Today Dare Force features a new lineup of four eminent veterans of the Twin Cities hard rock/heavy metal scene, who have merged their songwriting and live performance talents to create an incendiary musical force:
Johnny O'Neil began playing lead guitar in nightclubs in the Twin Cities at the tender age of 14. Johnny, along with Brian Bart, is one of the two founding members and lead guitarists of Dare Force. He also has played in Twin Cities bands such as White Raven and Archangel, and was replaced by world-renowned keyboardist, Yanni, after he left Archangel to form Dare Force.
Kelly Peterson is truly a musical renaissance man. In addition to playing a mean lead guitar, he is a master of the acoustic guitar, plays piano and bass guitar, teaches guitar, and is a competent luthier. Kelly is also engineering and producing the new Dare Force CD! Kelly has played in numerous popular hard rock/heavy metal bands in the Twin Cities since the 1970s, including The Killawatts, Badditude, Regime, and White Raven. In addition to Dare Force, Kelly currently performs as a solo artist, and with his power trio, Ktrain.
Brian Lorenson is the original bassist for Dare Force, having played with Brian Bart in high school rock bands before the formation of Dare Force in 1977. Since that time, Brian has played in a number of Twin Cities rock bands, most recently Wayward Boyz Klub. 2017 marked the 40th anniversary of Brian and Johnny's musical association in Dare Force!
Lane Allen, the newest member of Dare Force, is a 28-year veteran percussionist of the Twin Cities rock ‘n’ roll scene. Lane has been the stick slinger for numerous Twin Cities acts, including The Pilgrims (w/ former members of The Suburbs and The Suicide Commandos), The Cole Allen Band, and Sena Ehrhardt. Lane has also logged hundreds of hours as a session studio player, and live performance artist!
