Chef’Special released its 2nd album, Passing Through, in early 2014. Formed in Haarlem in 2008, the band is tremendously energetic and multi-faceted. The 'all is feasible' musical style of Chef’Special combines elements of funk, hiphop, reggae, pop and rock. They have enjoyed major successes at festivals in Holland and Belgium and performed to much acclaim in South Africa (Capetown Jazz) and Indonesia (Java Soulnation).
Chef'Special became a household name during a season of monthly television presentations at one of Holland’s major tv-shows, DWDD in 2011/2012. Dutch national radiostation 3FM claimed the band and appointed Chef'Special 'Serious Talent'. Both 3FM and MTV Holland nominated Chef'Special for the status of ‘best live band’ in 2013. After the release the album entered the Dutch chartist at #1 en de single 'In Your Arms' gained a double platinum award. At the 3FM awards the band received the award for 'Best Dutch Live Act'.
