One of the most promising country crossroads artists in the upper Midwest, The Chad Johnson Project is the very definition country rock. Telling stories of the everyday working men/women with a voice, and musicianship as honest as the words he is singing. Blending country, rock, soul, and blues to build a sound that is familiar yet completely his own. It is no wonder this seasoned pro has built one of the largest followings in his midwest region, and beyond. In 2017 Chad was voted "BEST SOLO ARTIST" in Southern Minnesota by SouthernMinn Scene Magazine.
Chad Johnson has released 5 studio albums; has independently sold more than 15,000 CDs; has shared the stage with Clint Black, Collin Raye, The Gear Daddies, 32 Below, Allison Scott, Mark Joseph, Communists Daughter, The Jason Paulson Band and more; has played festivals throughout the Midwest including Moondance Jam, Jamming Country Fest, The Defeat Of Jesse James Days, The Blue Collar BBQ Fest and more; and recently finished up a European tour...Including a stop at The Grand Ole Opry in Glasgow, Scotland. In 2015 Chad finished recording his 5th album (Northfield to Nashville) with Nationally recognized Producer, and recording artist Gary Sadker - Owner of Magenta Records & Red Ridge Entertainment. A song from that album titled 'Fire And Steel' got a bit of radio play in Chad's home state of Minnesota, and even as far as the United Kingdom.
In 2017 Chad was back down in Nashville working on a new album (#6), but this time he was working with the one, and only Casey Wasner. Casey has toured, and played with countless big names in the music business. Names like Keb Mo, and Robben Ford just to name a couple. After being nominated for a GRAMMY for his work on Keb Mo's album in 2014, Casey decided to walk away from his job as a touring musician, and start a full time career as producer/engineer at his 'Purple House Recording Studio' in Leipers Fork, TN. After 3 separate trips down there to work with Casey in 2017, Chad's 10 song album titled What We've Become is complete, and due to be released in the spring of 2018.
Whether you see Chad Johnson's acoustic show, or his full band project (which includes some big names like Mark Joseph, Jason Paulson, Andy Jaynes, and Kris Cabak), it will be a night not easily forgotten.
