Botzy is the consummate Minneapolis rap hustler, recognizing that work ethic extends into every facet of his musical journey. You'll see it on stage and off, the hungry approach to both his craft and his movement, and the passion behind his art from all sides culminates in an impressive final product.
While cutting teeth since 2009 rapping in the genrebending live band Culture Cry Wolf, Botzy's been able to fine tune his voice and energy enough to handle both solo and group creative efforts. When he attacks tracks on his own as he has on 2010's Deaf to the Static, various mixtapes, and his upcoming release Buck Fotzy, the songs bare his individual signature, spinning tales of soured relationships and personal struggle with a grin and a sense of humor. Having always held the spark to write and inspire others, his initial work with GAHEDiNDIE (now known as “Moody Black”) and by extension, P.O.S., Carnage, and other Minneapolis heavyweights shaped his skill with all facets of rap creation.
Bouncing around different cities until finally landing in Minneapolis in 2008, whose scene fit his rhythm and aesthetic impeccably, Botzy has been putting in work as a show curator in addition to his own performances. The successful Best Love Is Free showcase and mix CD release is entering its fifth year of increasing turnouts, and the support Botzy lends other artists within the local community is impressive. As a solid figure already in the Minneapolis rap scene, Botzy is ready with the release of Buck Fotzy to take his music to the next level.
