A Northeast Minneapolis native, Bobby Hatfield has contributed to the surging Midwest Music scene since 1996, releasing his first solo project (Hollywood Hillbilly) in 2000 after coming off Tour with Ice-T. Capitalizing on the successes of his freshman album, Hatfield soon started working with Big Jess of the renowned Unknown Prophets (Twin Cities Hip-Hop Awards 2008 “Best Producer” and 2009 nominee) to form the collective NE Time Entertainment. A double-disc release “Welcome to Northeast” soon followed, which spawned B Hat’s current “Party Rocker” status. With an obvious connection to the lyrically driven content that established Hip-Hop in its beginning stages, and has since given Minneapolis attention from the nation with artists such as Brother Ali and Atmosphere, his music has a strong element of aggressiveness and street music that dominates today airwaves. With appearances from Hip-Hop legends such as the Beatnuts, the “Out of the Blue EP” catches the ear of a broad range of listeners and critics alike. Songs like the title track “Out of the Blue” offer a jazzy bass-line and luxurious horns as a canvas for Hatfield to show why he has been voted “Twin Cities Most Slept on Emcee” 2 years in a row at the Twin Cities Hip-Hop Awards, while “Troublemaker” shows his ability to connect with female listeners without having to resort to today’s stereotypical R&B hooks.

With Promotional / Label power-house SP Style (“TC Best Promotion Team” 06 “Best Crew” 07, as well as a nominee for “Best Label” 3 years running) pressing and promoting Bobby. DJ D-Mil (“Best DJ” 2007 and nominee 2009, of B96 and SP Style All-Stars) behind him, B Hat offers an emotional charged, highly energetic delivery that leaves crowds exhausted with satisfaction after every performance.

Having a calendar shows on the schedule for the next few months already, and many more on the horizon, the push for this album will positively reach large audiences well into 2010 From Spring Break shows in Mexico to Music Festivals like the “Live 4 Life” benefit (North Carolina) and the Southeast Social Experiment (Georgia) the following month, 2010 looks like the year that Minneapolis’ most controversial artist will finally break through the glass ceiling of Minnesota Hip-Hop.

Look for the upcoming release “Reel Heads - The Mixtape” from SP Style B.Hatfield, DJ D-Mil, and B96’s Peter Parker in March of 2010. This project is sure to gain national recognition as it will feature West Coast Hip Hop pioneers Tha Liks, Evidence of Dilated Peoples/RSE, Beatnuts, Strong Arm Steady, Muja Messiah, Kanser, Pack FM, Royce Da 5’9,” The Crest, Unknown Prophets, Tony Bones and Big Wiz, and SP Style All-Stars collective (plus many more).
