Black Sam Malone

Black Sam Malone started with an idea and the desire to do something different. Aaron LeMay (of International Espionage!, Diver Dress and the Mark Mallman band) wanted to start a two piece band but did not want to just have bass and drums or just have guitar and drums. So he called up his buddy Andy Webber (of Nightosaur and Whalehazard guitars) and they went to work brainstorming.

Then Andy built a custom instrument to cover the high and the low end with one guitar. Aaron knew his old friend Adam Hozempa (of the The New McCarthy) would be a perfect fit to play drums and bring the energy the songs needed. They started jamming, and after a couple of practices and a couple of shows in some Mpls basments, Aaron and Adam agreed the band did not sound enough like Devo. So they called up their friend Brock Scholze to add some synth to expand the sound and make it more dynamic.
