Billy Dankert

Billy Dankert is the drummer and sometimes songwriter for the Gear Daddies, who also has a deep back catalog of his own solo songs. The Billy Dankert Band breathes new life into these songs, which mix indie rock with small doses of Americana. The band is comprised of Andy Beckel, Andy Jensen (the Driftless Area), and Charlie Varley (Box 10, and Doug Collins and the Receptionists).

Billy Dankert started drumming for Minnesota roots rock band Gear Daddies in 1984. He released his first solo record, Bowling Shoes Blues, in 1993 after the band’s initial breakup. Since then, Billy has sporadically released five albums of solo material whenever he has accumulated enough songs to justify a release. His newest album, All Eight, was released in May 2024.
