BERNARD FERGUSON

Bernard is a Bahamian poet living in Minnesota. He is most interested these days in writing about the history of the Bahamas and the Caribbean, and how the violences there are not so far related from the violences that take place here in the US. Perpetually afraid of things related to immigration and having to leave the country, Bernard often writes about finding home in the people that he loves, instead of homes as physical spaces.

You can most likely find him at a Button Poetry reading somewhere in the Twin Cities, hosting or planning a SPEAK Poetry Slam, or trying to find somebody's porch to sit on so he can get some writing done. He also develops software at the University of Minnesota in the College of Liberal Arts.
