Ben Rosenbush & The Brighton is comprised of the namesake Minneapolis singer-songwriter and his orchestral-folk-rock bandmates, whose first self-titled release (performing under The Brighton) charted in the CMJ top 200 lists for 2010. While it was dominated by songs of love and loss, the band’s sophomore effort, A Wild Hunger, finds a storytelling Rosenbush exploring more complex themes such as the lure of ambition, the fragility of hope, and the impending nature of change, as characters are often found struggling against the hungers of fate. Employing a more robust sound with the addition of experimental-flavored guitarist, Jacob Hanson, the band paints mural-sized landscapes that at times reach to explosive dynamics. But in the end, these songs still remain true to their folk birth-place, reassuring of their gentle nature.
