Bae Tigre is the newest musical project of Minneapolis-based musician, Ranelle Johnson (previously Tiger VS). Her 10-track debut album Memoir of a Happy Drifting Chemical was released online in mid-November 2014. The album written, recorded, and produced by Johnson; reflects the artist's inner-dialogue and conflict within a dynamic soundscape that combines electronic and classical influences.
In June 2015, Bae Tigre released her second EP. This time around, the album showcases layers of live strings by Alex Galle-From (viola) and Addison Wasson (cello), along with Johnson's playful vocals and symphonic production. Bae Tigre is currently writing and recording a new full-length album which will be released in Summer/Fall 2016. This album will feature a combination of live and electronic drums, guitar, and lush 3- part harmonies... keeping some mellow vibes... but shit's about to get a bit heavier.
Bae Tigre's Memoir of a Happy Drifting Chemical and Perennial Bygones are available for sale on Bandcamp. Bae Tigre performs with a full live band, showcasing a unique set-up that includes live drums, electric cello, and viola.
