AWOL One

California artist AWOL One lands on Alpha Pup with his 15th studio album, Primer. One may call him a crude poet, a drunken rambler or a melodic voice for slackers but nobody can deny that he's maintained an uncompromising level of intelligence, honesty, melody, dark humor and originality. Touring the planet as a solo act and a member of The Shape Shifters, AWOL has collaborated with everyone from Xzibit and B Real of Cypress Hill to Aesop Rock, KRS-One, Buck 65, Atmosphere and members of Dilated Peoples.

He’s also opened for Eminem, Atmosphere, Sublime, Common, Barrington Levi and many more. AWOL One was praised by Spin Magazine as “one of the premiere voices of emo-rap”, with admiration from Vice, URB Magazine, LA Weekly, and other press outlets throughout the 2000’s. His first album, the 2001 collaboration with Daddy Kev Souldoubt, quickly became seen as an L.A. underground hip hop worldwide classic. AWOL is also a graphic designer and illustrator for the design collective Brainheart Co.
