AO BEATS

Andrew Okamura -- professionally known as AObeats -- is a prolific artist & producer who got his professional start in 2013, applying his classical music training to the nascent world of SoundCloud. Drawing inspiration from reveled beatsmiths like Just Blaze and The Neptunes, AO rooted his artist project in hip-hop culture and his Japanese-American upbringing. After DJing select events and releasing music exclusively on SoundCloud, he quickly gained traction in its early community of fans, blogs, and influencers.

That same year, AO co-found the highly influential Moving Castle artist collective-turned-indie label which has released music from the likes of Jai Wolf, Brasstracks, Alizzz, Chet Porter, and many more. Soon he was producing for the likes of Felix Snow and Gnash, featuring in tastemaker press outlets like FADER and Mixmag, and regularly appearing on the Hype Machine popular charts. AO's music has also been featured on MTV's Wonderland w/ Matt FX and the original soundtrack of the newest season of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

Currently, he is based out of Los Angeles and has firmly established himself in its vibrant community of musicians, working with the likes of Kiiara, Satica, Lil Aaron, Mark Johns, Fletcher, Tish Hyman, Brenton Duvall, Blaise Railey, Imad Royal, Ro Ransom, Roget Chahayed, and many more.
