Born and raised in France, Andy Louis grew up in a music loving family. From an early age he was exposed to Blues, Rock, Jazz, Folk, music from Madagascar where his parents are from, and more. At 12 years old living in Montpellier, France, Andy wanted to be a saxophone player but then settled for guitar that was much cheaper because already seating at home. Needless to say, he fell in love with it along with the ability to sing over it while playing.
During that time, Andy would sit and listen to his favorite CDs with his guitar, learning songs by ear, one note at a time. Artists such as Tété, Marcel Dadi, Ben Harper, Jimi Hendrix, and The Police slowly shaped his desire to become a professional musician.
Andy then soon started to play shows: solo performances as well as with his friends from high school who he formed a band with.
After high school, he went on to move to Paris and then Boston to continue his musical learning and performances.
He finally settled to New York City, where he started making a name for himself among the musician community.
In New York, Andy also learned how to record and produce music spending a great amount of time in local music studios and his own simple home studio he slowly built over time.
Andy’s music is a mix of Soul, Indie, Pop that borrows harmonies from Jazz as well.
His heartfelt but light tone, complex but simple musical identity make him very relatable to a wide range of people from casual listeners to assiduous musicians.
