By name, American Revival, is something everyone can relate to. And by sound and lyrics, most all will appreciate. Whether you are surviving in the cold heartland or "living it" on the coastline -most all can appreciate a good story about lost love or understand that it really stinks to have your car broken into. American Revival lives it and then tells it like it is. Sometimes softly. Sometimes manic. Take lead singer, Thomas Pendarvis, an Arkansas-back-woods-guy and put him in Uptown Minneapolis where alternative music thrives... and what do you get?
Recent review: "They have this very epic almost metal sound with this incredible alt country twang over it. As performers they are articulate and passionate. As musicians they are crisp and punchy. They’re clean and tight ...and brought the girls out."
GigFunder.com review: "American Revival is a self-described, punk-country band from Minneapolis. This isn’t your standard Nashville-style country at all though. This is an amazing combination of driving rock guitar, dynamic lyrics, and just a bit of twang thrown in that softens the vibe and makes the music just that much more relatable. We actually had the chance to see American Revival live in Chicago and were blown away by their stage presence. American Revival brings energy that sucks the crowd into their every whim and direction. Girls are dancing. Guys are wishing they could be in the band. It’s a good time."
Punk Country/Cowpunk is a strange marriage of country and punk rock. While it's more melodic than psychobilly music, and has a harder edge than later alt country bands, cowpunk tends to share a following with both of those other types of music as well. The band collaborates in writing their own music and formed in summer of 2010. Debut album, The Worst is Over Now, is available on iTunes and many other online retailers. The band includes members from Seattle, Arkansas and the Twin Cities. Thomas Pendarvis is the former lead singer of Hunter(hero) and The Good Neighbor Policy.
