Brooklyn-born singer and songwriter, Alex Mali, is a multi-talented independent artist who puts a breathtaking spin on modern R&B. Her ballads are influenced by an electric assortment of genres with undeniable demonstration of strength in melodic and lyrical ability.
Raised with a very rich heritage stemming from a Jamaican mother and a Trinidadian father, she stands above the crowd—scoring spots on popular playlists such as New Music Friday, Alternative R&B, Fresh Finds, and more. In 2017 she released “Hoity Toity”(prod. Nine-Ease) featuring Grammy Award-winning artist MeLo-X, a song that demonstrated her versatility and love of her Caribbean roots. The reggae-tinged single captures the essence of Alex’s heritage while maintaining an American pop-culture slant. The official music video for “Hoity-Toity” premiered on FADER landing on H&M + TopShop playlists as well as Ebro’s Beats 1 Radio Show.
She quickly followed that up with the July 26, 2019 release of her debut EP, Sweet & Sour. An avid lover of food and cooking, Her debut EP will include a download of Alex’s personal recipe booklet of her favorite Caribbean dishes and drinks. From the cover art designed by Alex to the sultry and powerful vocals performed on each track, Alex is ready to grab the attention of her audience and entice new ones in a way that transcends barriers of age and culture.
