Abhinav Saihgal aka “AbhiNav” aka “DJ Vick” aka “The Man Behind The Dream” CEO and co-founder of Cherry Sky Studios. Sound Technician. Artist. DJ. Promoter. Director. Photographer. Abhinav as always had a passion for music in general. But he really started out working for Trinfex Sound around 2000 as sound technician running rentals for local DJ’s and venues. He gained a lot of insight through his cousin Trevor Samaroo about the industry. Trevor was a local reggae/dancehall DJ, so AbhiNav became acquainted with the Reggae/Dancehall industry before pursuing his true passion in Hip-Hop.
In early 2009, AbhiNav met Josh “JBeatz” Cobb and Paul “The Saint” Washington who owned the company One Mic Productions. He met them through longtime friend and producer Tony “Abstract” Haugen. Soon after meeting JBeatz and The Saint, AbhiNav was asked to come on board One Mic Productions as an artist initially. Through JBeatz and The Saint, AbhiNav met T-LaShawn, the two clicked naturally as artists and started performing locally together. While on One Mic, AbhiNav quickly began to explore other ventures. He gained notoriety after a series of successful shows at The Lounge in downtown Minneapolis. All of the “Electric Relaxation” events showcased local talent as well as gave AbhiNav a proper form of exposure. Soon after T-LaShawn & AbhiNav were invited to perform for the B96 Homegrown Showcase at which time he met eL.I.Be of former group D-Mine.
Besides T-LaShawn & eL.I.Be, AbhiNav has performed and worked with likes of: Joell Ortiz, Skyzoo, Emilio Rojas, Sha Stimuli, Slug of Atmosphere, Brother Ali, Unknown Prophets, Toki Wright, Muja Messiah, Maria Isa, Big Wiz & The Long DOE Camp, DJ Nex, House Of DJ’s, 89.9 KMOJ Radio Personality Marciano, DJ DMil & The SP Style All-Stars, & Former B96 Radio Personality Mr. Peter Parker. AbhiNav has performed at First Ave, The Cabooze, The Nomad, The Lounge, Soundbar, Visage, Aqua, Varsity Theatre, The Fine Line, The Dinkytowner, O’Gara’s, Barfly, The Loft, & many more. In 2010, AbhiNav and his team were nominated in the Twin Cities Hip Hop Awards for “TC Best Crew”, while working with former group One Mic Productions. In May 2010 AbhiNav & eL.I.Be started Cherry Sky Studios. Cherry Sky Studios was nominated for “TC Best Crew” in the 6th Annual Twin Cities Hip Hop Awards. Aside from the videos, AbhiNav is currently working on a Cherry Sky collective album, as well as his solo debut, Golden.
