Aaron Taos is a Brooklyn-based alternative pop artist hailing from Guilford, CT. Originally a collegiate soccer player, Aaron moved to Brooklyn post-graduation to more seriously pursue music. 2015 saw the release of his first EP, GUITS. This effort was a complete self produced, recorded, mixed and mastered debut. Despite being his first project, it was review positively in such respects as Consequence of Sound, Pigeons & Planes, Stereogum, among others. The final single of the project, "Hands", featured a music video starring Meryl Streep's daughter, Louisa Gummer. Since its release, "Hands" has racked up over a million plays on Spotify.
2018 saw Night Thoughts, an eight-track effort taking the self-taught artist's bedroom noodling and exploding it to full-blown studio project bolder sounds and bigger production. Night Thoughts plays through the timeline of a relationship. The sleek, sexy tones of opener "Amazing" capture that first rush of attraction. Driving and syncopated, the hard-thumping "Twisted" expresses the dumbfounding anxiety of obsession with psychedelic licks nodding to Taos' love of Tame Impala. Straightening himself up, Taos gets lost in the cool, carefree joy of true love on "Only One", only to wistfully stumble on the dance floor as he recognizes a potential end with "Off My Mind" went #1 on HYPEM. Aaron supports this release by opening for King Princess in summer 2018.
Late 2018 and early 2019 saw the rollout of Aaron's new self-produced and recorded semi-concept album Birthday Boy. Sonically marrying Aaron's first more alternative leaning EP, GUITS, with the larger soundscape of Night Thoughts, Birthday Boy was released on March 6. The singles that have been released so far have received large support from the press as well as the streaming services and artist community.
