A bold departure from this year’s stately “I Have No Fear”, London producer Tourist makes his bow on the Disclosure-affiliated Method label by shedding almost every element of his serene slowburners that preceded this new cut. All that’s left are a wispy vocal refrain and tumbling thump– but as soon as the arpeggiatior begins to warm up, it’s evident that “Together” (from the Patterns EP, out December 2) is different territory for Tourist. The tune’s early momentum cedes to an anthemic climb, taking stylistic cues from the skyscraping synths of mid-2000s electro house and the rhythmic chug of ’80s hi-NRG Italo disco, blended together with expert craftsmanship.
