Strings and winds combine and converse in this varied program of intimate chamber music. The oboe leads the conversation in Mozart’s delightful Quartet for Oboe and Strings, while flute and bassoon weave together mellifluous melodies throughout Heitor Villa-Lobos’ fusion of Baroque counterpoint and Brazilian folk music. The strings bring this program to an energetic conclusion with Dohnányi’s rollicking Serenade.
