[SPIN, 9/24/14] Toronto punks PUP dropped their self-titled debut album way back in April, but they’ve just now released a music video for “Mabu,” a track named after the band’s long-beloved car. In the above clip, the foursome admits that the vehicle is “on her last legs,” so they’ve decided to put Mabu out to pasture by entering her in a demolition derby. First, though, they’ve got to get the car in smashing shape, which is a polite way to say that the members of PUP break Mabu’s windows, create a sunroof where there was none previously, and pour a mixture of milk and cereal into her trunk. It’s a teenage dream of wreckage that leads into a muddy, grown-up game of bumper cars. Come for the crashes, stay for Mabu’s junkyard funeral.
