The life and music of rock’n’roll icon Janis Joplin will explode on stage at First Avenue on Friday, January 12 at the 11th annual Happy Birthday Janis! Guests will see a plethora of talented local musicians from over 10 different local bands come together to pay tribute to the music legend. Classics like “Me and Bobby McGee,” “Piece of My Heart,” and “Mercedez Benz” come to life once again as they remind us how Janis changed the music scene forever.
The show stars vocalist Jill Henderson (Mikelson), who played Janis Joplin in the Ordway Center’s performance of LOVE, JANIS, and features a rotating cast of the Twin Cities finest female vocalists, including: Debra G, Katy Hays, and Jacy Smith. Supporting band features members of: Jill & The New Gruv, Fancy Bastard, and Soap.
