The Gillespie Killings

At a time when many of their musical contemporaries had begun to slow down and start alt-country bands or solo projects the members of The Gillespie Killings decided to take the opposite route and formed a band that combined the best elements of the music they grew up on, mainly 70's / 80's rock and 90's era skate punk. Being that the band features former and current members of such diverse groups as The Framed, Neverwill, Stateline Motel, Said The Shotgun To The Head, Gay Witch Abortion, and Countach the well oiled rock n' roll machine started playing shows after only a few months of rehearsals. The resulting explosion of noise can best be described as Bad Religion starting a Guns N' Roses cover band with the members of Thin Lizzy. Add to that equation a twin guitar assault that would make most metal bands jealous and you have a force to be reckoned with.

They've been labeled as too punk rock for metal fans, too rock n' roll for the hardcore kids and too technical for the rock n' roll sect which has worked in their favor as they have managed to find themselves sharing the stage with such varied high profile local and National acts as CKY, Valient Thorr, Impaler, In Defence, The River City Rejects, Lionize (feat. Tim Sult of Clutch), The 4 OnTheFloor, The Neutron Bombs (mbrs. of Naked Raygun / Battalion of Saints), and The Architects (US). They've played in dirty basements, small town dive bars, illegal punk rock clubs, well known music venues and everything in between across the Midwest as well as a memorable appearance at the famed Skatopia compound in Rutland, Ohio.

The band is currently gearing up for the release of their first 7" EP, Universal Death Threats / Songs To Live By, which will also be the first release on Minneapolis music blog Switchblade Comb's recently formed SBC Records. The recording started over a year ago but was fraught with delays as the band dealt with two members having kids and a drummer with a broken collar bone, amongst various other setbacks. With the release of this debut offering, which was recorded by Ross Neuske (The Nightingales) and Jacob Grun (Me And My Arrow) as well as mastered by Jacques Wait (Off With Their Heads, The Soviettes, countless others), the band hopes to finally open the public’s eyes to their brand of punk influenced hard rock.
