The 2010 West Bank Music Festival saw the debut of one of the most exhilarating bands in the Midwest, MPLS South. With their unique and danceable combination of funk, folk, gypsy jazz, and acoustic indie pop, MPLS South brings their relaxed intensity, contagious charisma and intricately arranged original tunes to stages in and around the Midwest.

MPLS South is distinctive among its peers in their musical versatility, performance energy and relentless pursuit of the next deep groove. The caliber of musicianship in the group is among the best in the region. The passion that MPLS South has towards its audience starts with the passion each of the members of MPLS South share for their instruments. Their somewhat unorthodox blend of horns, acoustic and electric guitars, electric upright bass and percussion sometimes leads people to mislabel them a “jam band”- but MPLS South is no jam band. MPLS South doesn’t want to impress their audience - first and foremost, they wants to entertain it. MPLS South keeps the songs tight, the melodies catchy and the lyrics snappy.
All in all, MPLS South stands out in the crowded Midwest music scene by playing for the show. They aren’t trying to climb the rock star ladder, or sell downloads or even add fans to their various social networking sites (but we definitely don't mind when that happens). MPLS South plays because they love to play. No genres. Just music.
