A.WOLF AND HER CLAWS

An electro pop 4-piece out of Minneapolis. In 2011, Aby Wolf finally got her claws: drummer/vibraphonist Joey Van Phillips, keyboardist/vocalist Linnea Mohn, and synthesist/programmer Jesse Whitney. Recent years have seen vocalist and songwriter Aby Wolf develop into a shining singing force, brightening nearly every corner of the diverse Minneapolis music scene, from indie hip hop to improvisational jazz and avant-folk.

Her new group's otherworldly textures are playfully propelled by Whitney's forward-thinking electronic production woven with Van Phillips' expert vibraphone and acoustic kit work. The crisp beats and synth revelry lay a perfect foundation for Wolf and Mohn's stirring harmonized vocals. This mix often leaves dance enthusiasts with much to embrace, however, the quartet is delighted to blindside with an array of minimal, tender bliss-scapes that could never be confused for dance begging. No matter what form A. Wolf & Her Claws take, the results are indeed an elegant mauling.
