GHOSTMOUTH

One could argue that local band Ghost Mouth has opened for the Flaming Lips, the Pixies, and Arcade Fire—but not by invitation. The quirky jangle-poppers simply show up outside notable indie shows, where, strapped with battery-powered amps, they foist their music on the snaking lines outside via impromptu performances. Without decent chops to back it up, that type of guerilla PR stunt could irritate. But Ghost Mouth’s affable take on geek-rock passes muster, with frontman Sean Chaucer’s spoken-song delivery conjuring Cake’s John McCrea. [AV Club]
