In 2004, Rivethead and The Copyrights were scheduled to head out on tour together, but half of Rivethead ended up not being able to go. Brett and Nick from The Copyrights volunteered to fill in for them, so Zack and Brad said “fuck it,” packed a bunch of gear into a busted Ford Taurus, and drove off to meet up with The Copyrights. They spent a bunch of time on that tour drinking on porches and shooting the shit about old records and trading stories. The Copyrights told tales of the Carbondale low life and Rivethead made up lies about hanging out with Prince and Paul Westerberg in Minneapolis. Out of the banter bubbled a scheme to start a new band “someday.”

The day came quicker than they expected as Rivethead came to a grinding halt not long after. Once again, Zack and Brad said “fuck it” and decided to move to Carbondale to write songs with Brett and Adam. Zack split town in summer of 2006 and Brad followed shortly thereafter, forgoing the drive in favor of piloting a boat he’d been building in his backyard down the Mississippi River with all his belongings piled inside. Re-assembled and rejuvenated by the prospect of new beginnings, they dove straight into writing songs, playing shows around town, and laying down 7” tracks at their friend Morgan Demling’s home studio. A couple splits and a handful of tours later, here they are.
