Semeron

Semeron began in the fall of 2007 with the humble dream of a couple of friends sharing their rock inspiration with others. Adam Hanson and J.R. Westberg began tinkering with a uniquely blended style of song writing just outside of the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis, MN. They combined the classic metal, progressive and grunge sounds they had grown up listening to with a modern rock feel carefully crafted to be a cut above the rest. When Tony Nelson was recruited to add another guitar, followed shortly thereafter by Jeff Gyllen on bass/vocals and Jesse Farrell on drums, a dynamic sound characterized by ear-tingling harmony and head-banging rhythms soon became their signature style. The lyrics of each and every song, written by Adam and Jeff, are designed to go far beyond the mundane standard rock themes and tell imaginative vivid stories steeped in the tradition of classic literature. Everything Semeron puts together is meant to be beautiful and tantalizingly different. After the debut album, Destroying the Monster, guitarist Tony Nelson left the band to build a family. Eventually Nick Ford was chosen to replace him. The addition of Ford, a Berklee educated guitar warlock, makes Semeron a musical force to be reckoned with.

The name Semeron is ancient (koine) Greek for “this day”. The idea behind it being that the music is meant to celebrate the joy and wonder of today and not get bogged down with worries of tomorrow. The band is currently comprised of Jesse Farrell (drums), Nick Ford (guitar), Jeff Gyllen (bass & vocals), Adam Hanson (vocals), and J.R. Westberg (guitar).
