Their music is a mix of dreamy guitars, sixties melodies, psych-pop, garage and classic songwriting. The band has put out releases on Bailiwick, Holiday Records and now Lefse Records. Their last release is Hey There Stranger, an EP on California label Lefse. This collection of songs has gathered praise from Spin Magazine to Gorrilla Vs Bear to The Fader and Brooklyn Vegan. UK website The Line Of Best Fit said “You’re unlikely to find a more polished introduction to a band than Hey There Stranger- if a debut album can carry even half the substance, melodies and brains of this first work, it’ll come close to being a modern day, you guessed it, classic.”

Over the past couple years A Classic Education has also played at SXSW and CMJ festival and was named both times as one of the acts to watch for. 2011 will see the release of their first full length after a string of EP’s and singles. The album has just been recorded at Rear House in Brooklyn, NY by Jarvis Taveniere. The band has always had particular care for their artwork and dreamy videos, trying to convey as much as possible all the emotions they have set out for.

With their debut "First EP" (distro by Rough Trade), a limited edition 12" that documented the first year as a band, they have gathered praise and hype from some of the most respected music blogs and websites in the world such as The Torture Garden, Drowned In Sound, Sixeyes, Chromewaves, Music Slut, Song By Toad, Sweeping The Nation, 17 Seconds, The Daily Growl, MBV, Brooklyn Vegan etc. The band played for the first time in North America in March of 2009, with a bunch of shows between New York and SXSW festival. The band was nominated by SPIN magazine and Brooklyn Vegan as one of the top performances of the entire festival.
