THURSDAY: NEW BUMS

Meet the New Bums! They’re not your father’s Bums, but they’re bringing good old-fashioned songcraft back for another try. Ben from Six Organs and Donovan from Skygreen Leopards; two voices and guitars with the occasional other element all compete for the loneliest sound in the room. Lots of laughs too — if you like ’em dark, that is.

FRIDAY: BUZZIRQUE EP Release Show

Buzzirque, a new modern alternative band was formed by iconic beatmaker John Hewitt and technical guitar wizard Steve Diedrich in October 2012. Early 2013, Buzzirique added creative and talented musician Ryan Williams on electric and stand up bass. This special brew of artists have a unique rock n roll sound.

SATURDAY: SMALL BLACK

Brooklyn’s Small Black really hit their stride with last year’s Limits of Desire, an album that deftly expanded their warm, synth-fed sound into an epic and anthemic thing. We’re glad, then, that the quartet isn’t putting their feet up in 2014. […] Real People, out April 1 on Jagjaguwar, was recorded quickly, using the “first thought, best thought” method, says singer Josh Kolenik. Frankie Rose contribute to the dance-powered titular track and the panoramic “Lines of Latitude.” Closer “The Downtown Lights” is a Blue Nile cover. [SPIN]

SUNDAY: WILLIAM ELLIOTT WHITMORE

Hailing from a horse farm along the banks of the mighty Mississippi River, William Elliott Whitmore has developed an intense love and spiritual understanding of the land, which he flawlessly conveys through all of his records. With live performances of a caliber to leave one completely stunned in silence, and albums full of songs not only from the heart but also from the heartland, William Elliott Whitmore is one of the most interesting contributions to today’s diverse collection of musical ingenuity.
