The first time I saw Ice Balloons, I thought they were way too off the wall to ever gain popularity outside of basement shows and Rubulad parties. But is that such a bad thing? This lurching, fuzzed-out act—fronted, naturally, by a half-man, half-fly creature—is just the thing to make you feel you’ve stepped into another dimension, especially when accompanied by B.A. Miale’s trippy projections. WEDNESDAY: Jordan Carr & The Boys | Evasive Maneuver | Bear The Sound
Reinventing the Dumbass is the debut album from #1 Bad Boy Jordan Carr. For a decade, the boys of Evasive Maneuver have been supporting bad haircuts, punk rock n’ roll, and terrible outfits. Singing ballads of chicks, drunken poetry, depression and being raised in a corn field. The members consist of Caleb Harris (drums), Joe McAdams (bass), James McAdams (vocals, electic guitar), and Tyler Kotewa (electric guitar).
THURSDAY: Animal Lover GUILT Release Party
Animal Lover have a sound that hits you in the forehead and gut simultaneously. Frontman Addison Shark’s guitar explodes like a dirty bomb of feedback, and the pulverizing bass and drums of Evan Bullinger and Nate Fisher add to its shrapnel spray. This is noise rock powerful enough to leave a lasting physical impression — albeit a confusing one for venues assembling punk nights. “It does get pretty tunnel vision as far as being genre-specific,” Shark elaborates. “We’ll wind up on a straight hardcore bill because that’s kind of just what goes on in that particular scene.” [City Pages, Picked to Click 2013]

DOE EYE is the recording project of singer-multi-instrumentalist, Maryam Qudus. Her debut full length record, T E L E V I S I O N, is a living, breathing account of a whirlwind year of transition for the singer. Recorded at Tiny Telephone in San Francisco with producer John Vanderslice, (Spoon, The Mountain Goats, Nada Surf), T E L E V I S I O N follows the success of two EPs and her 2011 stand-out single, “I Hate You.”

SATURDAY: Potty Mouth
Hailing from the home of Thurston Moore and Dinosaur Jr., and drawing from the fertile music community that is Western Massachusetts, Potty Mouth are all-parts smart-pop craftswomen, specializing in taut, infectious, C-86 influenced indie pop meets ’77 punk perfection. The band released their debut 12″ vinyl EP, entitled Sun Damage in July 2012, which garnered the attention of Pitchfork, who called the six-song EP an “an impressive, no-filler debut,” as well as The Boston Globe, who named Potty Mouth one of the “top five indie-rock bands to watch in 2013,” with BrooklynVegan adding that they were, “one of the most promising new bands in their local scene.”
