Monday: ALEXZ JOHNSON | JARED & THE MILL
Songwriter & former Disney Channel prodigy Alexz Johnson will be bringing her talents to the Entry tonight. Singing since the age of three, then transitioning into singer-actress roles has prepared her well for her solo career, which began in 2011. Her three Basement Records albums have been received warmly, and will surely project well in the intimate 7th St Entry. She is being accompanied by Phoenix natives Jared & the Mill. This friendly folk-five piece received heavy attention in the music-sphere for playing a mini hospital set for a fan who was hit by a car during SXSW. Additionally, they’ve played for larger audiences, being selected as the opener for the last surviving Bee Gees member Barry Gibb on his most recent tour. Expect big things in the future from both of these groups, and catch them both in the Entry tonight!

Tuesday:MANITOBA MUSIC SHOWCASE ft. The Revival | Les Jupes | Greg MacPherson | Sc Mira
Manitoba Music (record label) is making their first trip to Minneapolis and bringing several showcase artists to the Entry tomorrow night. You’ll find some of Manitoba’s most promising up-and-comers including songwriting wunderkind Greg MacPherson, indie punk rockers Les Jupes, a dose of indie folk-rock with Sc Mira, and electronic rock outfit, The Revival. The mini tour of the Manitoba Music Showcase only spans two other cities, so make sure to check out the future of Canadian music while they’re all here, Tuesday in the Entry.

Wednesday: STREETS OF LAREDO
Debuting two EP’s within a month, Streets of Laredo have already started their project off with a bang, but this should come as no surprise to those who have followed brothers Dave and Dan Gibson, formerly lead singers of Elemeno P and Kingston, respectively. Volume I was debuted this month, while the second will be released in November. Described as family-folk, one can expect these brothers to be sharing vocal duties throughout the night, while they will be accompanied by other family members, wife of Dan, Sarahjane, as well as their other band members, also a part of the family.

Thursday: TROUT STEAK REVIVAL
Attention bluegrass fans: Five-piece mountain music group Trout Steak Revival will be gracing the stage this upcoming Thursday to swoon a Minneapolis crowd over with its raw bluegrass, being one of the fastest-rising collectives in the field. They’ve been blazing a strong trail in their home state of Colorado, winning over bluegrass fans and critics alike, as well as being named the Best Bluegrass band at the prestigious Telluride Bluegrass Festival this past year. Part of the magic behind Trout Steak Revival lies in the fact that these brilliant musicians have been playing together for years, tweaking and improving their sound. They’ll be making their 7th St debut this Thursday, and with a sound as large as theirs, they are sure to make one of our smaller venues feel even smaller — don’t miss this this gem of a show.

Friday: SONREAL
Canadian-born SonReal will be making his First Ave debut this Friday night, a highly anticipated show with opening support by Sean Anonymous and Ecid. After millions of streams and downloads of his two mixtapes, SonReal had gained much traction in the hip hop world, charting alongside Macklemore and Mac Miller and has grown immensely in 2014 alone. His album The Closers was nominated for the prestigious Juno prize in Canada. SonReal’s current tour has been praised for its intense visuals and gripping performances. Don’t miss em this Friday!

Saturday: DOPAPOD
A sound that is indescribable, genre-less, and yet still great is quite rare. Dopapod defies the idea that band needs to stick to a predefined path, highlighted with the unique sound they produce. They are known as prolific tourers, they’re known for performing 150 shows a year, which makes it a huge surprise that this will be their first Minneapolis date. Their high energy shows have garnered ecstatic reviews from each city they’ve been in so far, with genre-spanning tunes that cover jazz, metal, electronic, disco and of course some funk. Get wild this Saturday night in the Entry!

Sunday: FRONTIER RUCKUS
Hailing from Detroit, the indie folk rock sensation Frontier Ruckus will be gracing the stage of the Entry this Sunday night. Matthew Milla, lead vocalist, is a songwriting prowess, with much of their catalogue being anchored by him. The band have played larger festivals such as End Of The Road in the UK, as well as Lollapalooza in Chicago, winning over fans and artists alike, in the process making a fan out of Ryan Adams who was quoted as saying, “Love Frontier Ruckus! Those tunes go forever”. With a recommendation like that, I wouldn’t recommend missing them in the Entry on Sunday.
