TUESDAY: QUINTRON AND MISS PUSSYCAT
Swamp-tech purveyors Quintron & Miss Pussycat released their newest LP, Spellcaster II: Death In Space on New Orleans-based label Pizza Burglar Records. Quintron has been making noise/dance music in New Orleans for over fifteen years. The majority of his 13 full-length albums have the soul of New Orleans garage music filtered through many distortions and tons of self-made electronic instruments. Quintron’s collaborator (and wife) is Miss Pussycat, who plays maracas and sings, as well as many other functions you’ll have to see to believe (see: puppet show) tonight at the Turf!

WEDNESDAY: An Evening With RYAN BINGHAM Solo Acoustic (SOLD OUT)
The long-sold-out Ryan Bingham show has finally arrived! It should be clear why this amazing singer-songwriter has captivated the Twin Cities music scene so effectively—his weather-beaten vocals and acoustic sets at bars are known for their intimacy, and he picked up a few fans along the way by writing a song that ended up on the Crazy Heart soundtrack, earning him a Grammy, Oscar, & Golden Globe nominations. Ryan Bingham is sure to put on one of the most beautiful and captivating Turf shows to date, have fun to all those with tickets!

THURSDAY: WILDCAT! WILDCAT!
Indie pop trio Wildcat! Wildcat! will be rocking the stage of the Turf this week, in a long-overdue and much-awaited show. Their newest album contains production by M83’s producer, which is clear in some of the epic anthems that are contained in their 10-track debut album No Moon At All. The album contains some of the most dreamy hooks I have heard this year, and the band’s flexibility between indie pop, spacey psych makes it apparent how good this album will be translated live. Don’t miss out on their Twin Cities debut this Thursday!

FRIDAY: W. KAMAU BELL Oh, Everything! Tour
No need for earplugs Friday night, though we’ll still be hosting a show at the Turf, specifically for stand-up comedy from W. Kamau Bell. This brilliant comedian is described as “socio-political” comedy, and has built a large following from his FX show, Totally Biased as well as receiving large praise from fans and cohorts alike, including his friends Louis C.K., Marc Maron, and previously has been featured on Conan, Real Time With Bill Maher, and NPR several times. If you are in the mood for some serious laughs from an incredibly witty and post-modern comedian, we will see you this Friday at the Turf.

SATURDAY: JAMES MCMURTRY (SOLD OUT)
We will be slowing things down a bit on Saturday with a sold out show for the infamous James McMurtry. A true, purebred musician at the core, known for teaching himself the guitar and learning as he goes by just watching, James has been the face of Americana/folk rock for quite some time. His melodies and songwriting is devastatingly good, and I encourage any young folk rockers out there in the Twin Cities to take note of his guitar prowess and delicate vocals. Receiving the best Americana Album in 1997 was no mistake, James McMurtry is a folk rock star, so catch him if you can this Saturday night.

SUNDAY: LEGENDARY SHACK SHAKERS
The Legendary Shack Shakers will be grooving out this Sunday night on the Turf stage, a place they seem to have been destined for, with their stand-up bass and banjo joining them at each show. They are self-described as “southern-gothic, swamp-rock” and if you don’t know what to make of that, consider attending anyway, as this Kentucky band has been performing since the mid 90’s and don’t have an end in sight. Their frontman J.D. Wilkes is known for his concert theatrics, which are sure to make the show. Imagine a folk-rock band with the theatrics of Future Islands, now how does that sound? They’ve only performed in the First Avenue sphere opening for Reverend Horton Heat in 2010, so make sure to give them a very warm welcome this upcoming Sunday night at the Turf!
