Balloon drops are notoriously tricky. We used to make multiple nets of big clusters, but then one year a bundle dropped prematurely. Not all at once, but kind of in a trickle… That year became referred to as the “New York New Year’s.” So last year Wink (pictured) came up with a new system. It packs a bigger punch and is more foolproof but takes a lot more time to build. We lob the balloons in there… then somebody crawls under it all and “fluffs” them to mix the colors.
One of my great joys is the time of year when I get to go online and pick out balloons. My plan is to have the little shiny stars on the bottom so that all night when the lights are flashing around they’ll reflect everything all nicely, not that anyone really notices. – Wink
