Thursday: Buildings

Buildings blur the lines that divide many rock sub-genres – punk, noise rock, post hardcore all come to mind – and end up with a sound that is dynamic, raw and absolutely massive. Nothing is held back in terms of energy and aggression, but its executed in a way that is entirely organic and not at all calculated.

Friday: Braver– LP Release Show

Braver is a punk band that formed in 2011, corn-chips being their main source of inspiration. That, as well as the bonus features on Frasier: Season 5 (Portugese edition) Disc 7. They’ve released a full-length LP, split 7″ and have another full-length on the way.

Saturday: Real Numbers | Heaters

Real Numbers: The Minneapolis trio is tethered to making (distant) pop songs, in a mold that confines them to be terse and bright. Their simplistic sound is characterized by delicate, lighthearted vocal tones and sweet, sugary guitar hooks.

Heaters: Less than a year after the release of Holy Water Pool – Heaters’ debut, a crushing, revelatory psycho-surf-rock anointment-as-album – there are no apparent signs of distress to the engine that powers this Michigan-made vehicle of sound. To the contrary, Heaters are operating at a higher horsepower than ever before, as evidenced by the 2016 release of Baptistina.

Sunday: Jazz Brunch with James Buckley Trio

Sunday morning jazz with a side of French toast? We thought it was a good idea, too. The James Buckley Trio take the stage so you can bebop your way through breakfast. The Turf Club opens for bunch at 10:00am (All Ages event | No Cover).

Monday: Frankie Lee & Friends

Singer-songwriter Frankie Lee released his debut album American Dreamer on July 8, 2016 (Thirty Tigers/Loose). A Midwesterner by birth, Frankie Lee is a traveler by nature. After 10 years away, he returned home with a bag of new songs and recorded them right away. Minneapolis was the right fit for the sound he had in his head at the time. A band was assembled through drummer JT Bates that included Jeremy Ylvisaker (Andrew Bird) and Mike Lewis (Bon Iver) amongst others.
