Gini Dodds

After taking a songwriting course taught by Ray Davies of The Kinks in the late ’90s, Saint Paul native Gini Dodds began writing, recording, and performing in the Twin Cities with her band, The Dahlias, featuring lead guitarist Terry Isachsen (Curtiss A, Flamin’ Ohs, Red Flag, James Loney), drummer John 'Bongo' Haga (Rock-a-Dots, Curtiss A, Them Dots, Hypstrz, Rockin’ Hollywoods), bass player Jeffrey Willkomm (Curtiss A, Nip n’ Tuck) and keyboardist Gregg Inhofer (Brainiac, Olivia Newton-John, Peter Noone, Badfinger, Curtiss A).

Pulling from both British and American influences, she has been described as a cross between Chrissie Hynde and Lucinda Williams.  Sweet Christine, a song off her first CD, Mellowdrama, was a winner in the Nashville Songwriters Association songwriting contest. Follow-up albums include Good Medicine and Jangle Twangle. Gini’s song "Lifelines" was also recorded for a tribute to recording artist Slim Dunlap.
