Seymore Saves the World

MYSPACE  ::  FACEBOOK  ::  SNOWGHOST

A thorough dose of pop mastery, Seymore Saves the World delves deep into the mind of the outcast teenager and maverick nerd. Pianist and lead vocalist Scott Hefte, also of Superdanger, thrills with his high pitched witticisms while bassist extraordinaire Shawn Neary (Ex-Tapes N Tapes) carves up bass tones both sweet and hairy. Supporting the entire burden is pattern master Nate Perbix who expertly flows from powerful odd meter patterns to groovy and softspoken delicacies.

Seymore Saves the World is two parts Ben Folds with a splash of Mates Of State, pumping out effervescent keyboard trio pop that's rockin' the burbs. [STEREOGUM]

10 TWIN CITIES BANDS YOU NEED TO KNOW: It's classic crooner pop filtered once through the frustrations of adolescence and then again through the coarse indie rock of the mid-'90s, resulting in a sharp, high-quality flavor. [THE ONION A.V. CLUB]

Today is a day for Seymore Saves the World. They have the bounce and sparkle that I need today. Yesterday's clouds have been blown out to sea, the sun's out, the temp's rising. I don't need much help getting out of bed, but it helps to have the bubbling organ and harmonies straight out of the late 90s indie scene. [MUSIC FOR ROBOTS]

We'd be lying if we said we didn't think these guys were the sh%t. [SNOWGHOST]

At the Varsity, the trio sounded like Ben Folds Five playing in a Supertramp cover band, with quirky organ- or piano-led epics fueled by singer/keyboardist Scott Hefte's high-wiry delivery. [STAR TRIBUNE, Minneapolis/St.Paul]

A tasteful blend of angst-ridden lyricism, modestly groovy keyboard blips and dramatic, boyish vocal harmonies, Seymore Saves the World's self-titled debut is the kind of preciously geeky pop sure to appeal to fans of early Ben Folds Five. [PULSE MAGAZINE, Minneapolis]
