Drift Effect

Convention and stagnation are often used to describe the state of modern rock: These words are not used to describe Drift Effect. For the past four years, the band has been making music that touches back to the origins of all great music. Those origins are heart-felt honesty and rebellion.

The group is made up of five men, conscious of the state of affairs in a not so friendly age. They will stop at nothing to tell their stories: Stories that every person can relate to. With textured guitars, impassioned vocals, and a steady rhythm section they have accomplished and perfected a sound that, while undeniably influenced by a number of fantastic musicians, stands on its own. A sound that punches you in the face with pure aggression, then takes you for a ride filled with imagery and emotion; suddenly you are brought back to earth begging for more.

It didn't take long for people to take notice. On the strength of their self-titled EP, XM Satellite radio picked them as one of America's top 100 unsigned bands. And after less than a year of consistent gigging they were chosen to play Warped Tour in 2006 and have since built a rabid regional fan base that expands throughout the Midwest. The band released their first full-length album, Be Something in April of 2007. Magazines from four different countries recognized this album and over 250 U.S. radio stations began playing songs from Be Something. In April 2008, the band released a new acoustic album called, The Center. With alternate versions of songs off of Be Something, the album is both intense and beautiful.

Through all that has happened to them over this time, Drift Effect has come to this conclusion: life is experience and those you share it with. All experiences are more powerful when shared, whether they are negative or positive. Shared experiences bind human beings together. Some grew up in poverty. Some people lived in dysfunction. Others experienced terrible things at the hands of other human beings. The stories we tell are for the people in this world who survived this negativity to move forward and do positive things.

We want to prove that something beautiful can come from devastation. We want to be the exception to the rule that one’s past will predict their future. We need to show the 15 year old version of ourselves that life is not what you experienced to this point. There is more to this human experience. We want to share these lessons that we have learned: You can’t obsess over why things happened, and what do these experiences say about you. There is the present and the future version of yourself you wish to see. You have to fight everyday to work towards that possibility.

With that comes new blood. With new blood is new hope, with new hope new music. Stay tuned, new attitude, new music, new album, worldwide, 2010.
