I mostly play guitar and banjo, and will occasionally join in on an upright bass. I really like old-time string band music and country blues that were recorded in the 1920s and '30s. I try and take the old songs and put my own stamp on them. In addition to performing as a solo act, I have also spent a lot of time playing in string bands for square and contra dances. Lately, I have been playing some traditional Swedish music, and have been performing with a nyckelharpa player (a nyckelharpa is a Swedish keyed fiddle that dates to the 13th century). My main gig outside of solo shows is with Corpse Reviver, who is a Minneapolis-based trio that primarily focuses on the music found on Harry Smith's Anthology of American Folk Music.
