Jean Jean

Recorded in the French Alps, Jean Jean's 2018 album Froidepierre diverges from the band's last release. "We were tired of the over complicated and a bit festive stuff, we wanted to avoid to overdo things, to stop patch-working our ideas and work on real songs, with more hindsight," explained Edouard and Sebastian. After the Jean Jean EP in 2010, the album Symmetry in 2013, and countless tours over Europe, USA or Japan, Jean Jean got back to a three-piece: Gregory, multi-instrumentalist from bands like Almeeva or Kid North, and long time friend, join them to take care of the vintage synthesizers and the bass.

Froidepierre, the album's title, is simply the name of the mountain cabin where it was recorded. This name can be explained by its geological setting, at the deepest heart of a forest where stones are colder than everywhere else and where light hardly penetrates. The darkness and the feeling of being constantly on a knife edge were useful to record. You can have a glimpse of this through the twirling guitars, the ghostly synths, the samples that make lose your balance, or the epileptic drums, that combined together creates this odd urge to dance until your bones break.
