The Minnesota Police Pipe Band (MPPB) is a nationally recognized, top quality competition and performance pipe and drum corps.
Established in 1963, the band performs throughout the year at parades, concerts and competitions in the United States and Canada. In 2008, the Grade 5 competition corps tied for the Midwest Pipe Band Association's Champion Supreme title with Wisconsin's Celtic Nations Pipes and Drums. In 2009, the Grade 3 competition band placed third at the U.S. Open Pipe Band Championships and was awarded Champion Supreme status by the Midwest Pipe Band Association.
MPPB is a major presence at funeral services for Minnesota police officers and firefighters killed in the line of duty. In 2006 the band served as National Police Pipe Band at Law Enforcement Week in Washington DC and was honored to perform for the President and other dignitaries. In addition, the band provides the drama of pipes and drums for a variety of charitable organizations, including the the American Cancer Society, Minnesota Special Olympics and the Police Unity Bicycle Tour.
