Jersey Club (originally called Brick City Club) originated in Newark, New Jersey in the early 2000s, produced by pioneers like DJ Tameil, DJ Taj, DJ Telly Tellz and more who helped create the iconic sound.
Inspired by Baltimore Club’s uptempo hybrid of house music and hip hop, Jersey Club is a style of dance music that can be identified by its more extensively chopped samples, distinct triplet drum breaks and “bounciness”. It has been described as “somewhere between New York’s Vogue and Chicago’s Juke”.
