The Black Atlantics

The Black Atlantics are a Minneapolis-based music collective founded in 2014.

Based on the teachings of historian Paul Gilroy, The Black Atlantic showcases the existence of a distinct black culture that incorporates elements from African, American, British, and Caribbean cultures.

The compositions of this collective uniquely morphs the styles of Afrobeat, Rock, Funk, and Highlife to create their self-coined “Django” sound.

The Black Atlantics are led by multi-instrumentalist Obiora Obikwelu (Obi Original).
