Ark Life

Eighteen months and 180 shows in, Denver upstarts Ark Life have toured coast to coast, sharing stages with Of Montreal, Gregory Alan Isakov, PHOX, The Moondoggies, The Head and the Heart, Mount Moriah, Ryan Bingham, J. Roddy Walston & the Business, and more. Their mile high harmonic rock&roll -- equal parts mischief, humor, & heartthrob -- pulls as much inspiration from contemporaries like Heartless Bastards, Elvis Perkins, and Thao & the Get Down Stay Down as from the band's enduring loves for The Kinks, Nina Simone, and the classic campfire singalong. Ark Life's debut full-length, The Dream of You & Me, was recorded with producer Eric D. Johnson (Fruit Bats) and released August 19, 2014 via the Greater Than Collective and Misra Records.

"Ark Life draws its biggest comparison to the Band ... folk-rock that would make even Bob Dylan proud. Fused with a little bit of soul, the group has a classic rock sensibility, but the taste of modern musicians." --DENVER POST--

"Stories indebted to years and years of foraging, or drifting around, of sleeping on floors, of missing out, of living it up, of feeling shitty and exhilarated all in the same day/same hour, of wasting time, of finding love, losing love and not recognizing it ... and more than enough reasons to do it all over again." --DAYTROTTER--

"Fusing the best elements of contemporary indie folk troubadours and well-loved practitioners of the rootsier side of classic rock, Denver’s Ark Life have, with The Dream of You & Me, crafted an utterly timeless and wholly enjoyable debut." --POPMATTERS--

"With a similarly buzzy sound to contemporaries like Alabama Shakes, Clear Plastic Masks and J. Roddy Walston & the Business ... infectious grooves bursting with gospel-tinged, full-bodied vocals and smooth, folksy harmonies. Rollicking piano and soulful backup ... a subtle hint of psychedelic guitar licks ... vibrant songs that beckon you to the dance floor." --GLIDE MAGAZINE--

" ... the band effortlessly blends elements of Detroit’s Motown and Nashville’s country into driving rock and roll that conjures the feeling of tearing through the dustbowls of the Midwest with the top down and the sun disappearing into a golden haze." --MARQUEE MAGAZINE--
