Fever Dream

In 1983, Duluth, MN based new wave artist Fever Dream self-released what is believed to be their one and only album, '83. Outside of the ten songs on this record and a series of mysterious videos little else is known about its creators. Marc Gartman, a musician living and working in Duluth, MN (Two Many Banjos, Coyote) found the LP while searching through vinyl at the Record Cave in Superior, WI. Intrigued by the artwork and the 99-cent price tag he figured it was worth the chance. What he found on it he deemed worthy of the attention of Chaperone Records head Bob Monahan. Bob was interested in putting out the album but only if Gartman agreed to play shows in support of the songs.

Hey, What’s Up?, the second full length release from Duluth's Fever Dream arrived on September 27, 2014 just in time for International Cassette Store Day! It was produced by Alan Sparhawk and Steve Garrington (Low, Retribution Gospel Choir) at 20 Below Studios. It will be released on cassette and digital download via Duluth's own Heat Street Tapeworks.

A reunion of sorts, the last time these three gents were in a studio working together harkens back ten years to their rock group No Wait Wait. Proceeding that Steve and Marc worked for a spell in bluegrass/americana outfit Two Many Banjos with Dave Carroll (Trampled by Turtles). Marc got his leg stuck a bit too long in TMB but Steve freed himself and went on with Alan to Retribution Gospel Choir and Low. Fever Dream has brought them all back together once again.

Fresh off of producing Trampled By Turtles most recent full length Wild Animals, Sparhawk shows his confidence as both producer and engineer, recording and mixing this Fever Dream project himself. Steve Garrington worked with Marc throughout the year picking and choosing demos he had written and his co-producing credit cannot be understated. Hey, What's Up? represents a strong group effort and a leap forward from their debut '83.
